Janusz Szrom

Janusz Szrom’s style is as broad as the notion of “jazz” itself can be. On one hand, he has been developing a love of using his voice as a musical instrument while reaching back to bebop’s earliest composers or Parker’s pure improvisations. On the other, you can hear in his songs a truly romantic side: beautiful and heart-touching singing. This wide range of Janusz’s style and interests shows you not only his flexibility and readiness to undertake various, interesting challenges but is also strongly supported by his rich and broad musical education. He is skilled in the piano, trumpet, organ and saxophone; all of these instruments are playing in the soul of this jazzman...

Biography:
Janusz Szrom started his musical education on the piano in 1977 at Nysa School of Music. Then, in 1981, he began his 12-year long journey with the trumpet while continuing to perfect the piano. After graduating from the Secondary School of Music in Krakow, he first entered John Paul II University to play organ and later matriculated to Musical University in Krakow to study music theory. But his love of jazz was growing all the time, and it finally led him to pursue his dreams. Although only one or two vocal students are accepted yearly, in 1992 he began study in Katowice at the prestigious K. Szymanowski University of Music’s School of Jazz and Popular Music.
